When you create an ad targeted to gay men and women featuring Ricky
Martin, you're bound to get attention. And when the ad's headline
cleverly weighs in on two things, the magazine's hip factor as well as
the entertainer's demurrals to define his sexuality, watch out! Additional
ads in the campaign featured Dame Edna, and Sarah Jessica Parker.
New
York Magazine's history of gay-related covers and feature stories meant
that it could speak to the gay community as a peer, not an outsider. And
since New Yorkers know the magazine to be an island of cutting wit in
a sea of political correctness, they deserve the same in an ad campaign.
The Poux Company created the ads for New York Magazine's
subscription effort to gay and lesbian New Yorkers.
